Anderson Academy of Mathematics and Science is scheduled to open in the fall of 2009 with grades 5-8, adding a grade each year

The Anderson Academy Commitment and Contract Agreement

for Staff, Students & Parents

   The Commitment of AAMS Staff
 
  • Staff will nurture, develop, and motivate inner-city middle school students seeking a disciplined and challenging learning atmosphere in a college preparatory academy
  • Staff roles will encompass preparing students for future educational roles and leadership positions after their years at Anderson Academy.
  • Staff will challenge each individual student to reach fully his or her academic potential while providing exceptionally high levels of academic expectations.
  • The learning environment will promote a supportive and collaborative teaching atmosphere. All students will be encouraged and challenged with effective teaching methods and philosophies.
  • Staff will work in unison with the mission to engage best the overall development of the student body by promoting self-respect, self-reliance, and respect for the dignity of all.
  • The staff will adhere to a safe and challenging, yet innovative and enthusiastic academic atmosphere that consist of research, instruction, and teamwork.
  • Staff will be organized and community focused.
  • Staff will develop a defined and dedicated partnership that will include students, parents, faculty, administration, board members, and future alumni who share the mission and vision.
The Commitment of Students
 
  • Students will arrive at school prepared and on time.
  • Students will be encouraged to take on leadership positions while contributing to AAMS.
  • Students will attend mandatory Saturday school sessions, summer school, and before and after school tutoring if necessary.
  • Students will notify their teacher(s) of any difficulty with school assignments.
  • Students will adhere to the school dress code.( As determined by the AAMS Governing Board)
  • Students will abide by the school rules.
  • Students will always take responsibilities for their own actions. 
                                                                                                                                                                                          The Commitment of Parents
 
  • Parents will make sure that their children arrive at school prepared and on time.
  • Parents will ensure that students attend Saturday school for mandatory classes, summer school, and after school tutoring( if necessary)
  • Parents will check their child’s homework each night.
  • Parents will contact their child’s teacher whenever their child is having problems with the assigned schoolwork.
